A heart that longs for the Father

What I really mean is to go after Jesus with no motive but to honor him. To simply love on him intentionally. I want to first begin by talking about Seeking the lord. I believe in seeking him to know him, not for what he can do for us. I asked the lord the other day to change my circumstances, he kindly said back I want to change you, not your circumstances. I try daily to Yield to his promptings. I try daily to Surrender to his will daily. This helps me live in the fullness of my born again life. I lean on his ways and I learn his voice Better. Can we begin by Delighting in him. In the past I would use God to get me out of situations. When the cops would be behind me and I had too much to drink or had drugs in the car. Let's ask Genuinely God to come visit us in our prayer times. Let's devote our gaze to him.

Crying out to him for the salvation power to fall on our families. I’m talking about a daily pursuit that lasts years. Ephesians 2:1-10. “Once you were dead because of your disobedience and your many sins. You used to live in sin, just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil—the commander of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our sinful nature. By our very nature we were subject to God’s anger, just like everyone else. But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!) For he raised us from the dead along with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of his grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all he has done for us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it. For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”Ephesians 2:1-10 This kind of devoted life to Jesus I'm talking about Year after year people won't be wondering if you relapsed, they will be talking about how much power and authority you are walking in because of your radical devotion to Jesus. Like I said before keep it real. Remain relatable to people. Don’t get weird. Just keep it real. Be bold and full of love in your pursuit after Jesus. When I go different places to visit or speak they can’t believe I’m a ex con, a former gang banger, a former drug pusher, a man that was being indicted on a 40 year federal prison sentence, or even a former addict for 18 years . Gods transformation is so powerful people can't even trace the former life. That's how it should be. It's that daily pursuit that gets you there. That’s who you will be in the name of Jesus. You really don't have to get weird either. You can be real and transparent in the process. “The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him.”Lamentations 3:25 NLT God wants to transform us every day. Do you want God to transform you today? “And because you belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death.”Romans 8:2. NLT “Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.”Romans 12:2 NLT

The Cross bids a person to come and die. -Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Remember that. It will never be about you again unless you are in control. God will ordain your steps. If you humble yourself and listen to him. One step at a time. He wants us to be in utter dependence on him. “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.”Romans 12:1 NLT For you to stay free from drugs, you must crucify your flesh daily. He must be alive in you. “The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions.”Galatians 5:17 NLT The freedom I have walked in for the past 8 years is for others not for me. I benefit from it but God set me free so that I can set others free. Remember that. What you don’t use, you will lose. Find people to pour into, find people to disciple once your able to walk on your own two feet. Galatians 5:13-25. “For you have been called to live in freedom, my brothers and sisters. But don’t use your freedom to satisfy your sinful nature. Instead, use your freedom to serve one another in love. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” But if you are always biting and devouring one another, watch out! Beware of destroying one another. So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The sinful nature wants to do evil, which is just the opposite of what the Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are the opposite of what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, so you are not free to carry out your good intentions. But when you are directed by the Spirit, you are not under obligation to the law of Moses. When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things! Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Since we are living by the Spirit, let us follow the Spirit’s leading in every part of our lives.”Galatians 5:13-25 NLT The day you begin to lose your freedom is the day that you resist letting God transform you. Wake up asking God to transform you! Messages are great but encounters with Jesus daily are how you fight temptation. Soaking in his presence. When you graduate you will decide whether you have settled the issue of not using drugs or alcohol again. What is the reason you are choosing to be free? What motivates you? My motivation when I am tempted is there is a world of lost people in jails, rehabs, and in daily life depending on me to keep seeking God’s face.

They are praying to God to send me someone who has come from the streets, come from the dope house, and ran to serve Jesus Christ. “Epaphras, a member of your own fellowship and a servant of Christ Jesus, sends you his greetings. He always prays earnestly for you, asking God to make you strong and perfect, fully confident that you are following the whole will of God.”Colossians 4:12 NLT I hope to stand as a Timothy to millions of brothers and sisters fighting for their freedom from drugs and alcohol. I hope to continue seeking the Lords will for my life to show others God can bless, restore, redeem anyone who is willing to lay down their life to follow Jesus. Today my word to you has been simple, will you allow Jesus to transform you?Would you be willing to stay up late seeking his face tonite? Would you be willing to fast to see if maybe he would place a mantle on your life to preach the gospel? Maybe your called to be a pastor? Maybe your called to be a teacher? Seeking him intentionally you will certainly find out. Would you be willing to give him the same devotion you gave your addiction? My prayers this week have been that we continue to get really connected to God. Do you want to see what God can to do to a person fully consecrated to him? That's what D.L. Moody asked about 500 years ago. Pray this with me, Father we ask for you to come do your business in our hearts as we take a moment to pause in our busy schedule. We know seeking you yields great rewards. We desire to spend time with you. Today, I chose to make more time to listen to what I need to do today. I also choose to learn what your wanting to teach me in the current season I’m in. Amen.
