An ordinary Friday

Updated: Dec 28, 2019

One morning at a local gas station in Wisconsin, a man named Albert Fuller fills his coffee cup up beginning his Friday. He greets the cashier with, “hello, the cashier greets him back, “how are you, Mr. Fuller?” Mr. Fuller reply’s, “I'm just glad it's Friday.” The clerk chuckles, “yes sir, I agree.” For whatever reason the cashier asks him, “sir you come him every Friday to get coffee, I've always wanted to ask you if you attend church anywhere?” The man replies, “yea, I went many years back but I had a bad experience so I quit going.” The cashier proceeded to say, “well I'm sorry about that but God wants you to know he loves you and wants you to experience his plan for your life.“ Mr. Fuller said, “I'm not interested thanks anyway. Have a good day.“ The clerk replied, yes sir you too.“ She felt this sadness come over her as she watched the man leave the store. Later that day the cashier would see why she felt this way. Across the city, Mr. Fullers wife gets into her car headed to work. As she pulls into her parking place so opens her bible app to read her daily devotional. This morning devotional was about praying for your spouse. She says a small prayer for her husband and includes the kids then she heads into the office. Unknowingly, the prayer she says for her husband and kids was happening as she spoke. At a local middle school, 13 year old Sunshine is listening to her teacher describe the difference between fractions and percentages. Rather bored she slides a piece of paper to her friend. The paper said last night at youth was amazing. The friend slides the paperback and says cool what happened. She said I accepted Jesus for the first time. Her friend sends the letter back what is that like. She messages back I’ll tell you later. As the day comes to a close Mrs. Fuller heads to school to pick up Sunshine. They talk on the way home about Sunshines new faith experience. They settle in the home waiting on Mr. Fuller to get home so they all load up for their dinner plans that night As 5:00 rounds Mr. Fuller clocks out from the body shop then heads home as usual. As he is driving he is listening to the radio, on comes a story about how a child was in need of a kidney transplant. Then a lady felt that she heard God tell her to donate to the little girl. So a lady saved the little girls life. It was a beautiful story. Mr. Fuller quickly changes the station. Everyone loads up in the car to go to the taco shop. With Mrs. Fullers new car she was enjoying the swift pickup of the hemi v8. Mrs. Fuller was asking Mr. Fuller how his day was he reply today was actually good. Mr. Fuller told his wife about the cashier telling him about God than that he heard a story on the radio about a miracle transplant. Mrs. Fuller was glad to hear that story. She was quiet for a moment then she asks what do you think about all that? As Albert begin telling her why he consistently rejected the thought of God, a car next to them more concerned with the radio, swerved hitting them on the side. At the speed they were going Mrs. Fuller immediately went off the highway down an embankment. The vehicle was abruptly stopped by a power line pole. Mr. Fuller not having worn a seat belt was instantly ejected out of the vehicle. Mrs. Fuller was knocked unconscious from the airbag. Little sunshine was the only one awake and semi-alert. Frantic she unbuckles herself opens her door, then frantically try’s to open her mom's door to get her out. As she yanks on the door, a man runs up to assist her from out of nowhere. He opens the door cuts her seatbelt and pulls mom out. He slides her away lays her away from the vehicle and the power line. The man next very carefully rushes to help Mr fuller. As he gets close he sees the extent of his injury’s. He also sees the power line down by him. The man runs back to console Sunshine and Mrs. fuller until the paramedics arrive. Sunshine was crying uncontrollably. She clings to her mom for comfort.

As the paramedics arrive they load up Mrs. Fuller and Sunshine rides along in the ambulance. The firefighters arrive to the scene and radio in for the power line company to come. Police rope off the scene with caution tape so when the power company arrives they can begin their extraction of Mr. Fuller. As Mrs. Fuller and Sunshine are getting the treatment needed the nurses to do their very best to calm them down so that they can continue treatment. As the emotions calm between Sunshine and mom an officer walks forward to properly inform them of Mr. Fuller's passing at the crash site. This story happens daily for a family somewhere in the world every day. Life is very short and death often does come like a thief. This story seems to not have a great ending. Often times that happens. We live In a world that creates a fairy tale ending in every situation. There also is a belief that everything works out in the end. Sadly that's not true. Daily people die without ever knowing Jesus. They chose to do their own thing. They chose their own destiny. Some just fell for the common lie that they had more time. Some had seen a bad expression of Jesus so they assumed it was all a joke. They thought they could do the Jesus thing later. Then an unexpected tragedy happens and they spend an eternity separated from God their creator to remain trapped in a place called hell for eternity. That is the sad truth. It's honestly grieving to me. It doesn't have to be like that. God set up an order called free will. He won't violate it either. First I'll say bad things happen to good people. We live in a fallen world. In Genesis when Adam and Eve were in the garden sin took place. Again it was free will that God won't step in and make our choice for us. So we have consequences from their actions that day in the garden of Eden. God gives everyone opportunity after opportunity to know him but we have to choose in our heart to turn to him. No one knows where Mr. Fuller went that day. God knew his heart when he was ejected from that car. He could have pulled off the side of the road at some point and cried out to God for the forgiveness of his sins. Asking God to walk with him intimately. He may have wanted to tell his wife about it but just ran out of time. In my journey to faith in Jesus Christ, it was awkward mainly because I met a lot of Christians that didn't really know Jesus. They knew church talk but they didn't know the heart of God. When I finally met people that knew Gods' heart and had a strong relationship with Jesus my life began to change. I seen how they walked out what they talked. I knew it was real and I wanted real. I was tired of living in sin. I was in need of a Savior. I knew that without knowing Christ I would spend an eternity in hell. Simple as that. “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”James 4:17 NLT It's really hard to spend time with Jesus in his presence and not change. It’s not a religion it’s only about a daily relationship with your heavenly father. As I would read the bible I would apply what I learned. I began to experience the life of freedom. I could sense the power of God at work in my life. I was blown away by his love for me. He snatched me from the judgment and penalty of eternal damnation. I was guilty in my sins but he still chose to give me chances to know him. Then one day I was open enough to believe in the holy spirit. I didn’t like weird but I found out the Holy Spirit wasn’t weird. When I was baptized in the holy Spirit I really noticed a major difference when I prayed, when I read the Bible and the Holy Spirit helps me obey his word. In my flesh, I can’t do it. When I said a cuss word it really bothered me this never bothered me before. When I did something little I would feel terrible. The reason I felt like this is that I was grieving the Holy Spirit. I quickly repented each time this happened. “Not everyone who calls out to me, ‘Lord! Lord!’ will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Only those who actually do the will of my Father in heaven will enter. On judgment day many will say to me, ‘Lord! Lord! We prophesied in your name and cast out demons in your name and performed many miracles in your name.’ But I will reply, ‘I never knew you. Get away from me, you who break God’s laws.’”Matthew 7:21-23 NLT While you are here on earth you need to get to know what happens when you die and where you go. If your wise you will seek out God for yourself. Do a lot of research God isn't intimidated by you being skeptical he wants to show you he's real. “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to hell is broad, and its gate is wide for the many who choose that way.”Matthew 7:13 NLT God saved you from something for something. Today as you read this He wants to save you from an eternity away from him for a great future of helping others. Let his love fill you today and push you to serve him. People are in desperate need of his love and hope. “And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives.”Jude 1:22-23 NLT You can’t save someone who is trying to save them self. You have to wait until they give up to help them or they will take you down with them. Can you hear the fathers heart today? He is saying come to me. Come lay at my feet. Let me give you rest for your soul. Take my burden. Come let's have a meal. Let me tell you why I created you. Let me heal the wounds in your heart. Jesus Christ was sinless but was sent from heaven to a cross to pay your debt. God made a way for us even when we didn’t know him or desire him. We were born as sinners needing a Savior from the beginning of time. Without accepting his gift of Salvation we forfeit our place in the lamb's book of life. “For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ.”2 Corinthians 5:21 NLT “And anyone whose name was not found recorded in the Book of Life was thrown into the lake of fire.”Revelation 20:15 NLT “And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins, and there is no sin in him.”1 John 3:5 NLT “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.”Romans 6:23 NLT Let's capture this moment God has given you. Let's pray together, Father thank you for my friend that has read this short simple story. Thank you for using it to illuminate the reality of life. How quickly we leave this earth. How quickly we stand before you to give an account of every deed we have done. Help us to look for you daily and know your heart. Would you like to receive Jesus as your Savior? Repeat this with me, God I ask that you forgive me for every evil deed I have been apart of here on earth. Wash me with your precious blood. Let it flow deep into my soul. Heal all my wounds. Heal all my pain. Give me a new heart of flesh that desires to know you and do your works. Reveal yourself to me. I need something real and tangible. Give me opportunities to serve in your house. Connect me to a strong Bible-based body of believers. In the name of Jesus Christ. Amen. If you prayed this with me please let me know I would love to walk with you, help you get connected to a church and watch you walk out Gods will for your life.
